Gerold Kleinbongardt is a passionate and energetic Brass Teacher. For the past 5 years he has been nurturing young students on their instruments from zero experience to talented musicians.
He has joy in seeing both his young and matured students grow in their passion to become a brass player or just to develop their passion for music in any genre further. At young age Gerold started playing brass instruments from church groups to music schools and Orchestras At secondary school he played in the Big Band of the Theodor Fliedner Gymnasium in Duesseldorf, the Youth Jazz Orchestra NRW, as well as the Youth Jazz Orchestra of Germany, conducted by Peter Herbolzheimer.
An internship at the WDR Big Band of the German Radio / Television gave him ideas and insights of the professional life of jazz musicians. Here he took masterclasses from professional trombonists Martin Cederberg, Ludwig Nuss and other great players from the Band. In 2007 he studied at the Codarts University for the Arts in Rotterdam, Holland with the lecturers Ben van Dijk (Bass trombone), Martin van den Berg (Jazz Bass trombone), Bart van Lier (Jazz trombone). Highlights were regular concerts with the Codarts Big Band with performances at the world popular North Sea Jazz Festival.
From 2013 to 2016, Gerold was active in the Music Scene in Malaysia, mainly in Kuala Lumpur. He taught in all major International schools and founded the “Malaysian Jazz Orchestra”
Since 2017 Gerold is an active Musician in the Singapore Music Scene and plays in many Big Band and Jazz/Latin music.
